Chapter Philanthropy

Alzheimer's Research

Alzheimer's is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States, and nearly 2/3rds of Americans with Alzheimer's are women. It is the only leading cause of death in America that, as of yet, can't be cured or slowed.

Our sisters regularly participate in walks (such as the Walk to End Alz, pictured above) and host fundraisers to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's research.

Inherit the Earth

Sigma Kappa is devoted to protecting and improving the environment. Every person has a responsibility to take care of this world, for ourselves and for the generations that will follow us.

Inherit the Earth is a national project that provides the opportunity for sisters and local citizens to work together to improve our environment.

We recently adopted a stretch of Huntington Beach and often host beach clean-ups inviting all members of the Panhellenic community.

Maine Seacoast Mission

In 1918, the Maine Seacoast Mission was chosen as Sigma Kappa's first national philanthropy, in honor of our founding in Maine. Sigma Kappas help to provide funds to the mission program, which supports the smaller islands off the coast of Maine.

The mission program provides scholarships, a Christmas program, and emergency relief. The islands off the coast of Maine become isolated in the winter and are dependent upon the mission program for survival.

In addition to our national philanthropies, we support the MS Walk each year and the Children's Center on Cal Poly Pomona's Campus.
